My oldest daughter is 10 years old, the tween age when girls flip-flop between playing with Littlest Pet Shops and doing beauty make overs – a very indecisive age. A time when you’re curious about teenage things such as listening to popular songs. Popular songs such as Maroon 5’s Moves Like Jagger. The song and music is fun to sing and to make my own moves, BUT THE OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO STRESSES ME! The lead singer Adam Levine must not get any personal time for loving because he sure does expose “his moves” all over the bed. Just about every video I have seen from Maroon 5 has sexy make out scenes with scantily clothed women. SO when my daughter tells me she really loves that song, I cringe painfully and hope she will never see any of their videos. Although I was scared today when Celeste came home from a friend’s house and told me they played on You Tube looking up songs to listen to. She found “Jagger” but she said they only played the lyric version. With that information, my anxiety turbo boost. My parents never seem to have been bothered by my choice of music and videos. I was listening to Ozzy Osborne when I was 12 and his videos wasn’t exactly kid friendly. However, videos of the 80s don’t even compare to the video development of the 2000s. Trying to keep a tween from seeing two naked people making it out during fun dance music is an aggravating headache. She won’t see such things at home but a friend’s house, there is the possibility. And yet I can’t keep her locked at home all the time. Ugh, this parent thing is exhausting.
