Do any other moms find themselves becoming stressed watching a preschool cartoon? I have lately found myself filled with tension watching Curious George. An adorable cartoon that fascinates and entertains my littlest for hours all the while educating her the basics in numbers, reading, science, and friendships. However, when George begins to drag flour across the counter or puts a garden hose in the house to wash the rug, the thoughts of what cleaners and how many washcloths I will use to clean these massive jobs repeat across my brain. My head will actually begin to ache to thinking about being burdened by the consumption of time and aggravation and cost to clean the messes. What is supposed to be a fun, care-free cartoon on life experiments become this mom’s nightmare in sanitizing. Who else could have an anxiety attack during a good little monkey’s lizard-finding excursion but a mom. Now I hope my little preschooler will differentiate what Mama will allow happen when we she wants to emulate George making compost with the cookie jar.
